本書序言
I wrote this book to guide a student through the wonderland called physics. Sure, the trip is challenging and forces a student to mentally stretch, but it is also jam-packed with surprises. After each chapter, a student will look at the world differently. Indeed, the book teaches students how to actually realize the clockwork of the world.
Because this book will be used by students majoring in engineering, physical sciences, or medical fields, one of my main goals is to enhance their ability to read technical material and reason from a problem statement to a mathematical or conceptual result in a logical and orderly fashion.
本書特色
For the end-of-chapter problems, I chose some of my favorites from the tenth edition and changed the given data so that the problems are fresh. I then included many of my favorite problems from earlier editions, some reaching back to the very first book published by Halliday and Resnick. Because a primary purpose of this book is to coach students into solving technical problems, the book has a strong cache of problems ranging from the conceptual to the mathematically challenging.
