「外國專家看中國」系列包含7本書，《不與民爭利》為阿文，其餘6本均為英文。該系列旨在從不同的外國人的視角給國外讀者呈現一個立體、真實而豐富的中國形象。
該書的整理者李寧玉認識付瑞柯已經有十年了。這十年中，每年付瑞柯都數次到中國，長則三四個月，短則一兩個星期，無論在北京、大連，還是那些大大小小他到過的城市，付瑞柯獨往獨來、走街串巷，搭公交、乘地鐵，儼然一個不會說中國話的「中國通」。本書內容分為幾大部分：夢想成真在中國、作為建築師的一生、改善環境的終生承諾、尋找新天地、理解與挑戰、中國建築的新時代、實現建築夢想、融合東西傳統等。
作者:(加)付瑞柯·斯克洛齊Francesco Scolozzi was born in Italy after a background in classical studies enrolled in the art school of Bologna where he received the degree in arts。 Enrolled in the studies of architecture at Florence University where he received the degree of Doctor of Architecture with honors。 In the year 1976 immigrated to Canada; where he was part time professor at the University Toronto。 Became Canadian Citizen and open his practice of Architecture in Toronto where he received Design Award from the Association of Architects and Urban Design Award from the City of Mississauga and numerous other recognitions。 From 1995 to present days is working in China where he was awarded numerous international competitions。
