A little girl, sad and upset by her parents constant arguing, befriends a little lizard she finds living in an old teapot in her backyard. She doesn’t know what he is - and neither does he. She is kind to him, which enables him to gain courage and connect with her heart. When her parent’s fighting escalates, the little lizard discovers, through his bond of love and protection, that he is much more than just a lizard. He is a taniwha: a guardian and protector of places or, as in this instance, people.
