Ulrich Marzolph is a former senior member of the editorial committee of the Enzyklopädie des Märchens (1986-2015). He retired as an adjunct professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Göttingen in 2019. His field of expertise is the narrative culture of the Muslim world. In addition to numerous essays and encyclopedic entries in the field, he has published The Arabian Nights Encyclopedia (2004; together with Richard van Leeuwen). His most recent book with Wayne State University Press is 101 Middle Eastern Tales and Their Impact on Western Oral Tradition (2020).
