The disruptive nature of climate hazards place extreme events at the forefront of climate-human interaction. As Asia? primary disasters climate hazards, such as drought and floods, stress communities, challenge societies and threaten environments. Today changing climates, growing populations and development exacerbate hazard risks and consequences across the continent. Exploring the social implications and environmental dimensions of climate hazards in Asia, this book integrates human exposure with climate factors and disaster episodes. Focussing on a range of Asian societies, environments and themes, it addresses multiples scales (province, national, regional), different hazards (drought, flood, temperature, storms, dust), environments (deserts, temperate, mountain, coastal, Arctic) and issues (exposure, security, development, management, health, politics) to present a diverse, encompassing evaluation of climate hazards in Asia.
