The arrival of Covid-19 at the turn of 2019-20 put paid to any travel until July 2020. My planned cruise out to St Kilda and some of the Hebridean islands with Noble Caledonia was cancelled as the lockdown began and although, for a while, it looked as if my replacement cruise with Majestic Line in late July might just go ahead, it too was cancelled. By that time, I had made some hotel bookings and a provisional arrangement to fly from Plockton to Skye and so I decided to travel right up the west coast, visiting places I had meant to visit but never before managed. It turned into a tour around (most of) the northern coasts of Scotland and a run back down through the Central highlands.
