本卷是故宮所藏繪畫珍品系列展示圖書之一，是對明代松江繪畫名家及代表作品的集中介紹和展示，也是對中國繪畫自晉唐、宋元、明清做系統介紹的一個重要組成部分。
收錄畫作106件（套），以代表作家為類，依次董其昌、顧正誼、孫克弘、宋旭、李流芳、趙左、沈士充等，作品內容以山水，主兼及花鳥，形式有卷、冊、軸、扇面等，全面系統地介紹了松江繪畫。
"Songjiang paintings" in the Museum are chiefly those by Dong Qichang(1555-1636). The album sums up studies by researchers in the Museum on Dong. Works by other painters are mentioned in comparison.
