The first photograph of Grace (a real picture) shows a little girl in 1890's clothing. As you turn the pages, she begins to talk about herself. She thinks her face is disgraceful; her ears stick out, her nose is too long and her chin - well, you get the idea. Then she thinks of ways to "improve" herself. If all of them happened, she'd look like a Madonna wannabe. But a friend comes to the door, and she realizes that she'd just as soon play ball. Charming, funny pictures add a nice unrealistic touch. For anyone, boy or girl, who is dissatisfied with his or her appearance. Older kids will get a kick out of the rhyme and rhythm of the book, and may catch the first dis-Grace-ful pun. ~~ From Child Literature
