為使中外各界人士瞭解本市99年度各項市政工作成果（含原高雄市和高雄縣），本刊由各相關機關提供資料，經彙集編成「高雄市行政概況」中英文版年刊。
本刊依市政推展方向，分為：「總述」、「政治建設」、「經濟建設」、「文教建設」及「社會建設」等五大項，內容除以簡明扼要之文字敘述外，並附統計數字與圖表，俾益各界明瞭運用。
With the aim of helping local residents and foreign visitors to better understand the achievements in municipal administration (including the former Kaohsiung City and Kaohsiung County) in 2010, the information provided by the concerned government agencies were compiled into the Overview of Kaohsiung City Administration, a year book published in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
This Year Book is divided into five major chapters according to the directions of municipal development: Introduction, Political Development, Economic Development, Education and Culture, as well as Social Development. Brief text descriptions are accompanied by statistical figures and charts for easy understanding and reference.
